[PRESS] Choosing an auxiliary crane

Jean-François George, Director of LVI Location de Véhicules Industriels, explains how to choose an auxiliary crane.

 A niche market.

The auxiliary crane market in France is a niche market. An oligopoly made up of the Hiab, Fassi and Palfinger groups offers the majority of cranes on the market. Vehicle rental companies are major consumers of vehicles with auxiliary cranes. These are used on behalf of customers, particularly on construction sites. Labatut LVI has a fleet of some fifty auxiliary cranes.

Choose an auxiliary crane.

In order to choose the right auxiliary crane, there are a number of decisive factors to take into account. The relationship between the weight and power of a crane is of major importance. The range of local services offered by the crane manufacturer is also a factor. Once in use, the crane needs to be serviced fairly frequently. Depending on the customer's needs, the crane's accessories can vary. Last but not least, the crane must be operated by qualified drivers with CACES training.
